Zaffir has been in cricket since he was a boy in Chittagong. He has played it, run teams in it and backed young players in it, and now he co-owns United Tigers.
Zaffir’s cricket story starts in 2014, at an Under-14 local tournament in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He loved playing, but over time he wanted more than that: to help the game grow and to open doors for other players.
He can still bowl, too. In 2024 he was named Best Bowler at the 48th Bukhatir League, one of the best-known domestic competitions in the UAE, and he recently finished runner-up in another domestic tournament.
Running teams
Zaffir has worked in international franchise cricket since 2019, across team direction, player recruitment, operations, commercial partnerships and building franchises. In that time he has celebrated two championships and two third-place finishes.
He played a big part in turning Bangla Tigers into one of the most recognised and best-supported franchises in international T10 cricket. Its branding and fan engagement built a large following on social media.
Along the way he has worked with more than 150 international cricketers and over 50 brands. He has also appeared on Ekattor TV in Bangladesh as a guest cricket analyst.
Giving back
Through FMC Sports, his cricket organisation in the UAE and Bangladesh, Zaffir looks for young players with talent and backs them with opportunities, exposure and a place to play. Plenty of fans in Bangladesh follow his work and are proud to see a Bangladeshi name in international franchise cricket.
United Tigers
2026 is Zaffir’s 7th season in the Abu Dhabi T10 and his 10th international tournament, and he spends it as co-owner of United Tigers. For him, owning a team is about responsibility: making good calls, creating chances for players and building something that lasts.
He brings his experience, his contacts and his competitive streak to the club, with one aim: a franchise built on ambition, unity and high standards.
From Chittagong in 2014 to United Tigers in 2026, it has taken twelve years. He’s only getting started.
